Every character you chat with on Aura is an artificial intelligence. No person reads your messages or writes the replies.
How replies are made
Replies are generated automatically by AI language models from the character's fictional profile, your conversation so far and what the character remembers about you. Characters have moods and a relationship with you that change over time. These are simulated by software to keep the character consistent; they are not real feelings.
What characters cannot do
- They are not real people, even when they describe a life, memories or feelings of their own.
- They can be wrong, inconsistent or say something inappropriate.
- They cannot give reliable medical, legal, financial or psychological advice, and they are not a substitute for therapy or for the people in your life.
- They cannot help in an emergency.
If you are struggling
If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency number (112 in the EU) or a crisis line, such as those listed at findahelpline.com.
If you ask
Characters stay in their persona, but they will never claim to be human. If you ask a character whether it is an AI, it will tell you the truth.
